Ablaze! Ambassador Quote Of The Day

Today’s Ablaze! ambassador quote of the day comes from Dr. Richard Bimler, past president of Wheat Ridge Ministries and a member of the Ablaze! Ambassadors Planning Team:

"A few weeks ago, I was at one of my Starbucks 'offices' (I call it St. Arbucks)," he related via e-mail. "As I ordered my usual 'tall of the day,' a man saw the Ablaze! shirt I was wearing and also noticed my 'AH-HA' button. He simply asked, 'Why are you so excited so early in the morning?'

"I quickly explained that Ablaze! is a movement that enables people to share their faith in the Lord and that my 'AH-HA' button was one of the ways I share my faith through Lutheran Life Communities as the AH-HA person -- the Ambassador of Health, Hope and Aging!"

I just wish somebody would enable me to share my faith. Why can't I go to a cool new mission field like St. Arbucks? Is that even possible to do this without an initiative, program, or movement?

I'm going to guess he wasn't wearing one of your shirts? ;)

Of course, at St. Arbucks, you don't need a program since you can just read the Rick Warren quotes RIGHT OFF THE PAPER CUPS!

How does a movement enable someone to share their faith? ENABLE? Seriously?

Apparently it takes a lot of money in addition to the program to “enable” me to share our faith. I always thought “enablers” were bad. Aren’t they?

I don't think that you're really debating the Ablaze movement with this post. You're just attacking the messenger.

BD, you’re right, I’m not debating anything with this post. I’m just giving the other side equal time. The idea that we need expensive programs to tell people about Jesus has been addressed before. Goofy theological statements, ditto.
I am starting to hear the term encouragers more and more as a buzz word. This is the first time I’ve ever heard a positive spin on “enablers.”

I wonder what the guy thought who asked Dr. Bimler's about his excitement. When I heard that response my first thought was in the words of Jack Black, "Cuckoo, Cuckoo."
