The Dr. Seuss Bible: Funny Then, Now, Not So Much

It’s just not as funny now as it was back when the Kids in the Hall first performed the skit embedded below. When congregations are basing their sermon series on Dr. Seuss books instead of the Bible as the Church is called to do; it’s just a little harder to see the humor is such things.

A local LCMS pastor here once preached a sermon in rhyme. This was a special gift on the occasion of confirmation. Not funny either.

Deriding the Church is great fun don't you know.

But laugh as they may they will reap what they sow.

For God won't be mocked, a price will be paid.

We pray one day they'll hear It, so loud and so clear.

With Christ as their Savior they'll have nothing to fear.
